O’Sullivan Civil Engineering constructed a large basement beneath a new rear extension to an existing private residence in Tadworth, Surrey – one of the most technically demanding forms of residential basement construction.

The scope included mass concrete underpinning of the existing house foundations, a timber soldier and waling temporary earthwork support system, bulk excavation in a constrained rear garden, modular steel formwork, steel mesh reinforcement, and a waterproof concrete base slab and retaining walls. The sequence concluded with a reinforced ground floor slab poured over the completed basement structure.

This project demonstrates O’Sullivan’s capability in complex underpinning and basement construction for private residential clients, architects and structural engineers across Surrey and the wider South East.
